Little Egret

Our most commonly seen of the white Egrets in the parish and has now become a resident breeding species and a number of pairs now breed alongside the Grey Herons down the downslink. It is smaller than the Great White Egret with a black beak though in juveniles the beak is more greyish. A real feature are the yellow feet which looks like they are wearing marigolds. They can be solitary but sometimes will feed together and occasionally up to 20 have been recorded in Henfield.
